AMD to Improve Gaming Experience

AMD’s support for frame rendering technology is growing. AFMF 3.0, the next generation of Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF), has begun appearing in the latest Radeon drivers. This development indicates that the technology, positioned as a competitor to DLSS 3.0, has entered a new phase.

AFMF 3.0 Technology Confirmed

AFMF technology was first announced in 2023. This feature, which can be enabled via the driver, delivers increased FPS in games thanks to frame rendering technology. AFMF 2, released in 2024, introduced AI-powered algorithms, lower latency, and broader GPU support. The subsequent release of AFMF 2.1 reduced ghosting issues, improved temporal tracking, and added support for new games.

Now, preparations have begun for AFMF 3.0. According to the driver, this version is called “FrameGenV3” and is expected to be released with the FSR Redstone update.

FSR Redstone will be part of the broader FSR 4 ecosystem. This update will improve ray tracing performance with machine learning optimizations, as well as improvements to Neural Radiance Caching and Path Tracing.

AMD’s new frame rendering technology is expected to compete with Nvidia’s DLSS 4 Ray Reconstruction. AFMF 3’s more refined architecture than the current model could improve overall image quality while also boosting performance. More details about AFMF 3, along with FSR Redstone, are likely to be released in the coming months.
