EA CEO makes striking comment on game strikes: “Nothing will happen”

Electronic Arts (EA) CEO Andrew Wilson stated that the ongoing strikes in the video game industry will not affect the company in the short term. Wilson stated that the strike is not currently harming EA’s current projects and live service games. However, there are concerns about the long-term effects of the strike.

EA CEO’s strike comment: “Nothing will happen in the short term”

Andrew Wilson emphasized that EA’s current game projects and live service games will not be affected by the strike. The company’s current portfolio is full of projects developed before September 2023 and these projects are not affected by the strike. The success of games such as Madden NFL 24, FC Mobile and FC Online keeps the company’s financial position strong during this period.

Although Wilson stated that the strike did not have an impact on the company in the short term, he admitted that there are uncertainties about the long-term effects. In particular, failure to make progress on projects approved since the strike began could impact EA’s future plans, making it difficult to complete projects on time for 2026 and beyond.

No Delays Despite the Strike! GTA 6 Will Be Released

The SAG-AFTRA strike for video game players has been marked by disagreements over issues such as artificial intelligence (AI) protections. The strike began on July 26, with the first protest scheduled for August 1 in front of WB Games. If the strike continues for an extended period, future projects for companies like EA could be severely impacted, putting future content production and delivery at risk for both companies and gamers.
