Fallout’s original creator Tim Cain hasn’t contributed to the series in a long time, but he still follows it closely. He shared his thoughts on the first season of Prime Video’s Fallout on his YouTube channel and left a very positive impression.
“The Fallout series really feels like Fallout”
Over the course of a nearly 13-minute video, Cain elaborates on his impressions of the show’s first season. At the beginning of the video, he starts by saying that he liked the show and then explains why he was so impressed and enjoyed it.
“Everything feels like Fallout. It really feels like Fallout. It’s a really hard thing, believe me. It’s easy to write post-apocalyptic stuff that doesn’t fit the Fallout mold, and it could have accidentally been so ridiculous, like ‘this isn’t part of Fallout’ or something. But it didn’t.”
Cain also praised the Fallout universe in the show and admitted that he missed some details while watching. While he appreciated the lack of a narrator to explain everything to the audience, he noted that this could make it difficult for players to understand and follow the show.
He also praised the diversity of the main characters in the series. Each of them functions as a representative of different player characters and this diversity makes the show more interesting. Lucy represents the “good character” who has high ethical standards, while Maximus reflects a more neutral character focused on his goals. According to Cain, the Ghoul character represents actors who act more quickly and without responsibility.
Cain praised the statements of the show’s executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Todd Howard in an episode where he discussed the show’s potential timeline issues and shared the producers’ statements on the matter.
After Fallout, another legendary RPG game could become a TV series!
Cain created the Fallout series while working at Interplay Entertainment and played a key role in the design of the original Fallout games. However, he was not directly involved in the series from early in Fallout 2’s development. In recent years, he has shared several videos focusing on Fallout on his YouTube channel, which have generally been well-received by fans.
The first season of the Fallout series was a huge success and Prime Video has given its approval for a second season. What do you expect from the second season of Fallout? What did you think of the first season? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
