Galaxy S27 Ultra Release Date, Price and Specs: What We Know

The Galaxy S27 Ultra has not been announced yet, but leaks point to an unveiling in early January 2027, a few weeks earlier than the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Reported prices range from $1,399 to $1,499 in the US, up from the $1,299.99 the S26 Ultra cost at launch, with a bigger battery and DC dimming as the main upgrades.

This guide collects everything known so far about the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Samsung has not confirmed a single spec, so every detail below comes from certification filings or leaks and is labeled as such. We will update this page as new information arrives.

When Is the Galaxy S27 Ultra Release Date?

Samsung usually unveils its Galaxy S flagships in January or February. The Galaxy S24 was announced on January 17, 2024, and the Galaxy S25 on January 22, 2025. The Galaxy S26 series broke the pattern with a February 25, 2026 Unpacked event and US availability from March 11.

Tipster Lanzuk, who has a solid record on Samsung leaks, claims the Galaxy S27 lineup will launch in early January 2027, as reported by SamMobile. The same report says Samsung has already locked in the major components and is timing the event around rival launches.

Certification supports the earlier date. All four Galaxy S27 models passed China’s 3C certification in September 2026, while the Galaxy S26 series reached the same stage only in January 2026. If the January timeline holds, sales would likely start in late January or early February 2027.

Which Models Are in the Galaxy S27 Series?

Four phones are expected: the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, a new Galaxy S27 Pro and the Galaxy S27 Ultra at the top. In the 3C database, the Ultra appears as SM-S9580 and the Pro as SM-S9570.

Galaxy S27 Ultra Specs: What the Leaks Say

The table compares the rumored Galaxy S27 Ultra with the Galaxy S26 Ultra on sale today. Bezel and camera bump figures come from leaker Ice Universe.

Spec Galaxy S27 Ultra (rumored) Galaxy S26 Ultra
Display 6.9-inch M16 OLED, DC dimming 6.9-inch, Privacy Display
Chip Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 or Exynos 2700 Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy
Main camera 200MP ISOCELL HP6 200MP
Battery About 5,700mAh (5,534mAh rated) 5,000mAh (4,855mAh rated)
Wired charging 60W (3C listing) 60W
Display bezel 1.28mm 1.32mm
Camera bump 4.69mm About 4.5mm

Display and Design

The most notable display rumor is DC dimming, a first for Samsung’s Ultra line. Instead of flickering the panel on and off to lower brightness, DC dimming adjusts the current, which can reduce eye strain for people sensitive to PWM flicker. We covered the M16 panel and the refined Privacy Display in our Galaxy S27 Ultra screen leak report.

The overall look should stay familiar. According to Ice Universe, the bezels shrink from 1.32mm to 1.28mm while the camera bump grows to 4.69mm, as detailed in our design leak coverage. The phone reportedly measures 163.76 x 78.25 x 7.97mm and keeps the S Pen.

Chip, RAM and Storage

The chip decision is still open. SamMobile reports the Ultra could use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 in every market, while Korean outlet The Elec says Samsung is also testing the Exynos 2700 for the Ultra. Samsung is also weighing LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage for the Pro and Ultra, a choice complicated by memory prices that have risen several times over the past year.

Camera

The main camera is expected to keep 200MP resolution with a new ISOCELL HP6 sensor in the 1/1.3-inch class and a thicker lens module. Some leaks claim Samsung will drop the 3x telephoto for a triple setup with 50MP telephoto and 50MP ultrawide cameras, but no second source has confirmed this yet.

Battery and Charging

The 3C listing shows 60W wired charging, the same as the S26 Ultra, and no charger in the box. Galaxy Club found a battery coded EB-BS958DBY with a rated capacity of 5,534mAh, which translates to a typical rating of about 5,700mAh. That would be the first time in years an Ultra moves past 5,000mAh, as explained in our Galaxy S27 Ultra battery story.

How Much Will the Galaxy S27 Ultra Cost?

Samsung has not announced pricing. A list shared by leaker PhoneFuturist in October puts the Galaxy S27 Ultra at $1,399 to $1,499 in the US and South Korea and $1,499 to $1,549 in other markets. The same list has the base Galaxy S27 at $899, as covered in our Galaxy S27 price leak report.

For reference, the Galaxy S26 Ultra launched at $1,299.99 for 256GB, the same as the S25 Ultra, according to Samsung’s US announcement. Samsung has since cut the 256GB model to $1,099.99 on its US store. Rising memory costs and pricier Qualcomm chips are the main reasons leakers expect the S27 Ultra to start higher.

Should You Wait for the Galaxy S27 Ultra?

If you want the new features, mainly DC dimming, the larger battery and the new camera sensor, waiting about two months looks reasonable. If price matters more, the S26 Ultra is already discounted and could get cheaper once its successor arrives.
