Microsoft has announced the name of the new version: Not Windows 12!

Microsoft has confirmed that the new version of the Windows operating system, expected to be released this fall, will not be called Windows 12 as anticipated. Instead, the company will introduce the new version as Windows 11, with the next annual feature update being referred to as version 24H2.

Microsoft Windows 11 version 24H2

In a preview build released today, users who are part of the Windows Insider program will see that the version number has been updated to 24H2 in the Settings > System > About section. This indicates that Windows 11 will continue as this year’s annual feature update.

This decision, responding to the expectations of Windows users, aims to enable all Windows 11 users to easily update instead of introducing a new version. Previous speculations suggested that the new version would be named Windows 12. However, Microsoft’s official confirmation put an end to these expectations.

Microsoft might find it logical not to further strain its Windows user base with a third version in the market. Additionally, releasing the fall update as another Windows 11 feature update means that all Windows 11 users can easily update.

Windows will focus on artificial intelligence

The new version of Windows 11 aims to offer users a richer experience, especially by focusing on artificial intelligence tools. While not a major update, many new artificial intelligence features and general quality improvements are expected in the new version.

It is expected that Microsoft will share more details about the new version of Windows 11 in the coming months. What do you think about this? You can share your thoughts in the comments section below.
