New development regarding Apple smart glasses

New and exciting details have emerged regarding the smart glasses project that tech giant Apple has been working on for some time. The Cupertino-based company’s second-generation smart glasses, which aim to make mixed reality more practical, may have the ability to run different operating systems depending on the device they are connected to. This flexibility aims to provide users with an experience optimized for their ecosystem.

Apple’s Second-Generation Smart Glasses Will Consume Less Resources

According to information shared by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s second-generation smart glasses will run the full version of VisionOS when connected to a Mac computer. This will provide users with an immersive and high-performance augmented reality experience. However, when paired with an iPhone, the same glasses will operate with a dedicated interface that consumes fewer system resources and is more lightweight. This strategy aims to preserve the glasses’ battery life while providing practicality for portable use.

Apple ikinci nesil akıllı gözlük

It has been previously rumored that Apple’s first-generation smart glasses may feature a screenless design, which could disappoint potential buyers. Therefore, the second-generation model, expected to be released in 2027, stands out as a much more attractive option with its full-fledged display and advanced features. It’s also been reported that the company considered canceling this project for a while due to concerns that it wouldn’t meet expectations.

How the device will connect to a Mac or iPhone remains unclear. While a wired connection offers a lag-free and reliable experience, it may be impractical due to the clutter created by the cable. It’s believed that Apple is working on a seamless, wireless connection technology similar to the one provided by the H2 chip in the AirPods. The company’s ultimate goal is believed to be smart glasses that don’t need to be connected to any other device and can operate completely independently.

So, what are your thoughts on Apple’s smart glasses project? Do you think offering different interfaces depending on the device it’s connected to is a sensible strategy? Share your thoughts with us.
