The iOS 27.3 beta is out. Apple released the first developer betas of iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3 and macOS 27.3 on November 3, about a week after iOS 27.2 reached the public. The update opens Siri AI to third-party apps, brings back the redesigned Health app and adds vertical tabs to Safari, with a public release expected in December.
Developers can install it from Settings, General, Software Update, Beta Updates, after enrolling in Apple’s developer beta program. As with any first beta, it is meant for testing on secondary devices rather than a daily iPhone.
iOS 27.3 Beta Opens Siri AI to All Developers
The biggest change is for app makers. In a post on its developer site, Apple said a new Developer Preview lets any app bring its content and actions into Siri AI through App Intents. Siri AI can carry out custom actions such as checking a delivery or booking a table, and a new “skills” system lets developers chain several actions into one request.
The timeline is long. Apple said the feature will first reach customers “in a few months,” and App Store submissions for Siri AI integrations will open in the spring. Apple is also holding online labs for developers on November 4 and 5.
Apple’s own apps get more actions now. Siri AI can work across Calendar, Files, Finder, Journal, Mail, Maps, Messages, Music, Notes, Photos, Preview, Reminders, Safari, Shortcuts and Weather. In Mail it can unsubscribe from mailing lists or undo a sent message, and in Safari it can sort and close tabs or clear the history for a site.
Turkish and Other New Languages Are Coming Soon
Apple says Siri AI “will soon expand” to Traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese. The same announcement says Siri AI in the beta is available in English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, so the four new languages are announced but not yet live in beta 1. Apple first promised Turkish support for this year in October.
The expansion comes as Apple prepares to put limits on heavy use. The company recently said Siri AI usage limits will arrive in 2027, with paid options for more access.
The Redesigned Health App Returns
The new Health app, tested in the iOS 27.2 betas and then pulled before launch, is back. According to MacRumors, it adds an Insights tab with Apple Intelligence guidance and a readiness score for Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 owners, plus a Longevity tab with a “Health Age” estimate based on data like resting heart rate, VO2 max, HRV and sleep. It requires an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone.
Safari Vertical Tabs and Adaptive Dark Mode
Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac gets an optional Vertical Tabs layout along the left edge, which suits the wider screen of the iPhone Duo. A new Adaptive Dark Mode offers a “Try” button on bright websites and builds a dark version of the page on the fly.
The iPhone Duo also gets a sideways version of Reachability that shifts content left or right instead of down, making the far edge of the wide display easier to reach with one hand.
What It Means for You
If you are not a developer, there is nothing to install yet. Most of these features should arrive with the final iOS 27.3 release in December, alongside the planned Apple Intelligence launch in China. Third-party apps working inside Siri AI will take longer, since they depend on the spring App Store opening.
