Warzone PS4 and Xbox One players have only a few days left. Activision is ending Call of Duty: Warzone on both last-generation consoles when Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 goes live at midnight ET on Friday, November 6, 2026, which makes Thursday, November 5 the last full day to play.
The free-to-play battle royale is not going away. It stays live on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, where it will be folded into Modern Warfare 4 with the new season.
When Does Warzone PS4 and Xbox One Support End?
The shutdown has been rolling out in stages since the summer. According to Activision’s Warzone platform update, the game was pulled from the PS4 and Xbox One digital stores on June 4, 2026, and could no longer be downloaded there. Content sold for real money was removed from the last-gen in-game store on the same date.
The in-game store on PS4 and Xbox One then closed on June 25. Anyone who already had Warzone in their library could keep installing and playing it until the end of Black Ops 7’s sixth season, which ends when Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 starts. Activision has not given a separate shutdown minute for the old consoles, so servers could go offline a little before the new season begins.
Why Activision Is Dropping the Old Consoles
The reason is Modern Warfare 4 itself. Activision lists the new game only on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, and Warzone is being integrated into it in Season 1. With no last-gen version of Modern Warfare 4 to run on, Warzone has to leave PS4 and Xbox One too.
It is the end of an era for a game that launched in March 2020 and became the hub for every Call of Duty release that followed. Other Call of Duty games released on PS4 and Xbox One will stay playable, Activision says, since the change only applies to Warzone.
What Happens to Your Progress and COD Points
Your account progress is safe. As long as you sign in with the same linked Activision account, your levels and any content bought with COD Points carry over to PS5, Xbox Series X|S or PC.
Unspent COD Points are the catch. They only move to a current-generation console in the same family, so a PS4 balance follows you to a PS5 and an Xbox One balance to an Xbox Series X|S. Switching to PC or to the rival console means losing access to that balance, so it is worth spending it before November 5.
Players who are not ready to buy new hardware still have a route in. As Windows Central points out, Warzone can be streamed through Xbox Cloud Gaming or NVIDIA GeForce Now on supported devices.
What It Means for Last-Gen Players
For players still gaming on a PS4 or Xbox One, this is another push toward an upgrade. Sony’s current console line keeps getting new options such as the PlayStation Prism collection for PS5, while anyone thinking further ahead can read what we know about the PS6 release date and price.
