How to cancel subscriptions on iPhone: hands holding a smartphone with an abstract settings list next to a card cut in half, no logos

Want to know how to cancel subscriptions on iPhone? Open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, choose the subscription and tap Cancel Subscription. It takes under a minute, works for Apple services and App Store apps alike, and you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.

That last point matters, because many people delay canceling to avoid losing days they have paid for. You do not lose them. Below are the exact steps for iPhone, Mac and the web, what to do when a subscription is missing from the list, and how to ask Apple for a refund.

How to Cancel Subscriptions on iPhone in Settings

These are the steps Apple lists in its official cancellation guide, and they are the same on iPad and Apple Vision Pro:

  1. Open the Settings app and tap your name at the top.
  2. Tap Subscriptions to see every active and expired plan billed to your Apple Account.
  3. Tap the subscription you want to stop.
  4. Scroll down and tap Cancel Subscription, then confirm.

If there is no Cancel button, or you see an expiration date in red text, the subscription is already canceled. You can also reach the same list from the App Store: tap your profile picture in the top right corner, then tap Subscriptions.

What Happens After You Tap Cancel?

Your plan stays active until the current billing period ends, and then it simply stops renewing. Free trials work differently: Apple says you should cancel at least 24 hours before a trial ends if you do not want to be charged.

Since November 2026, you may also see an extra screen before the cancellation goes through. Apple now lets developers show a message, an image or a discount when you tap Cancel, as we explained in our report on new iPhone subscription retention offers. Read the offer if you like, then tap Cancel Subscription again to finish.

How Do You Cancel on a Mac, PC or the Web?

On a Mac, open the App Store, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, click your name again on the account page, then choose Subscriptions. Pick the plan and click Cancel Subscription.

On a Windows PC, open the Apple Music or Apple TV app, click your name, choose View My Account and select Manage next to Subscriptions. On an Android phone or any browser, sign in at account.apple.com and follow the onscreen steps. Apple Music has a few extra options of its own, covered in our guide on how to cancel Apple Music.

Why Can't You Find a Subscription on Your iPhone?

If a charge appears on your bank statement but not in the Subscriptions list, there are three usual reasons:

  • Another Apple Account: search your email for "receipt from Apple" and check which account was used, then sign in with it.
  • A family member paid: if their Apple Account is on the receipt, only they can cancel it.
  • You paid the company directly: services bought on a website bill you themselves, so you must cancel with them. Our guide to canceling ChatGPT on every platform shows how this works for an app sold both ways.

Plans bundled with your wireless carrier, such as a free Apple TV or music trial, are canceled through the carrier, not in iPhone Settings.

Can You Get a Refund for an Apple Subscription?

Sometimes. Canceling only stops future charges; it does not refund the current period. To ask for money back, sign in to reportaproblem.apple.com, choose "Request a refund," pick a reason and select the charge. Apple's refund instructions say you should get an update within 24 to 48 hours, and eligibility varies by country.

Our Take

Check your Subscriptions list once every few months. It takes less than a minute, and it is the easiest way to catch forgotten free trials and apps you stopped using. If you also pay for music outside Apple, the same habit applies; here is how to cancel Spotify.
