The latest ThinkPad T16 Gen 4 AMD offers more than just another Ryzen-powered business laptop. Lenovo has packed this model with features even some premium Intel machines skip most notably, two Thunderbolt 4 ports. That alone makes it stand out in the AMD space, where USB4 is more common than true Thunderbolt compatibility.
ThinkPad T16 Gen 4 AMD adds smart business features
This isn’t just about ports. Lenovo has included features designed for enterprise use, such as a SmartCard reader and native Ethernet. It also supports modern wireless standards, offering Wi-Fi 7 and optional 5G WWAN connectivity a rare combo outside of flagship business devices.
Our review unit came WWAN-ready with a Nano-SIM slot and antennas pre-installed. That makes it easy to stay online while traveling without relying on a phone hotspot. With eSIM support included, switching countries is seamless too.

Maintenance is a strong point for the ThinkPad T16 Gen 4 AMD
Unlike most consumer laptops, this ThinkPad still embraces easy access and repairability. You can swap out key components without stress, which is especially valuable for IT teams and long-term ownership.
Here’s what users can access with minimal effort:
- Two SO-DIMM RAM slots
- M.2 SSD storage
- Replaceable battery
- Accessible cooling fan
- Removable keyboard (just two screws)
Lenovo’s design clearly favors professionals who need serviceability as much as portability.
ThinkPad T16 Gen 4 AMD bridges performance and stability
While it doesn’t offer cutting-edge standards like Thunderbolt 5 or PCIe 5.0, the T16 Gen 4 AMD delivers a well-rounded experience. It combines enough power for daily productivity with rare flexibility in connectivity and upgrades. Few consumer notebooks can match this kind of long-term usability.
Why business laptops like it cost more
When comparing business laptops to similar consumer machines, the price gap often raises eyebrows. But with features like extended warranties, global support, and guaranteed parts availability, that premium makes more sense. The ThinkPad T16 Gen 4 AMD shows that business laptops aren’t just about durability, they’re about covering every base a professional user might need.
