NASA designed a solar sail spacecraft!

NASA, which has attracted attention with its recent radical initiatives, is now on the agenda with its newly designed solar sail spacecraft. The vehicle, which is said to circulate in the solar system for a long time, is expected to start test flights next week.

Thanks to a latest generation technology called Advanced Composite Solar Sail System, the sail will get its power from sunlight, not wind. If the launch process to be undertaken by Rocket Lab is successful, redistribution of cards in the industry is on the agenda. Here are the most important details about the subject…

In the comprehensive research to be carried out after the launch, the durability of a new generation composite material in space will be tested. It is said that when the sails of the vehicle are fully extended, it reaches a size equivalent to an 80 square meter tennis court. It is also stated that this model is more durable and lighter than the previous one.

The vehicle, which will be constantly controlled by a special satellite, will rise approximately 1,000 kilometers above the Earth. NASA officials say that the spacecraft can be easily seen from Earth if the weather is clear. If this application is truly successful, many other space companies are expected to make similar attempts. We hope that all these developments will benefit humanity at the end of the day.
