Nintendo recently showed the design of its long-awaited next-generation game console Switch 2. However, technical specifications and performance details are not yet official. Analyzes and leaks made by IGN gave important clues about the design and performance of the console. Here are all the details about Nintendo Switch 2…
Nintendo Switch 2 comes with an 8-inch screen! 29% larger than the previous generation
According to the latest leaks, Switch 2 will have the largest screen size in the series with an 8-inch OLED display. That’s about a 29% increase compared to the first generation Switch’s 6.2-inch screen. We can even compare the screens with previous generations as follows:
- Switch Lite: 5.5-inch
- Switch: 6.2-inch
- Switch OLED: 7-inch
- Switch 2: 8-inch
According to IGN and other reliable sources, the Switch 2’s hardware will raise the performance bar for modern portable consoles. It will offer high performance in both portable mode and dock mode. Here are the technical specifications of Nintendo Switch 2:
Handheld mode:
- CPU: 998.4 MHz
- GPU: 561 MHz, 1.72 TFLOPS
- RAM: 2133 MHz, 68.26 GB/s
Dock mode:
- CPU: 1100.8 MHz
- GPU: 1007.25 MHz, 3.09 TFLOPS
- RAM: 3200 MHz, 102.40 GB/s
Other hardware specifications:
- CPU: 8-core ARM Cortex-A78C
- GPU: Nvidia T239 Ampere architecture (similar to RTX 30 series)
- CUDA cores: 1536
- Tensor cores: 48
- Ray tracing cores: 2
- RAM: 12 GB LPDDR5
3.09 TFLOPS in dock mode, below the Xbox Series S’ 4 TFLOPS and PS4 Pro’s 4.2 TFLOPS. However, for a portable console, these values are quite impressive. It is thought that Switch 2 can close this gap with the advantage of portability.
New Nvidia GPU architecture will be used to improve Switch 2’s gaming performance. This architecture will provide smoother graphics and improved performance with DLSS 2.0 support. It will also offer faster loading times thanks to high memory bandwidth.
When will it be introduced?
Nintendo will hold a special launch event for Switch 2 on April 2, 2025. We’re already looking forward to seeing how the device will compete with rivals like Xbox and PlayStation in terms of performance. Do you think Switch 2 will sell as much as expected? You can share your comments with us…
