Samsung introduces 5,000 ppi OLEDoS panel!

Samsung Display announced the world’s first 5,000 ppi pixel density OLEDoS display panel, developed specifically for XR headsets, at the SID 2025 fair. The new-generation panel, which is only 1.4 inches in size, offers extremely high resolution for XR devices.

The new OLEDoS panel goes beyond current technologies with a peak brightness of 15,000 nits and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Covering 99% DCI-P3 color gamut, the screen offers high color accuracy and a wide color range, providing the user with a more realistic and impressive visual experience.

The panel’s 5,000 ppi pixel density makes it possible to not distinguish pixels on XR headsets even when looking at the screen very closely. Samsung officials stated that this panel is superior to even 8K televisions in terms of resolution.

Another striking screen introduced at the fair was another OLEDoS model with an RGB sub-pixel structure, 4,200 ppi density and 20,000 nits peak brightness. This model is the brightest OLEDoS screen developed by Samsung to date.

The OLEDoS (OLED-on-Silicon) technology, which forms the basis of these panels introduced by Samsung, is based on a screen architecture where organic layers are used on a silicon base instead of traditional glass.

Thanks to this structure, pixels in micrometer sizes can be produced; very high-resolution screens can be fit into very small sizes. So what do you think about this technology? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
