Samsung is preparing to officially unveil its long-awaited Android-based extended reality (XR) headset. A special launch event has been planned for this device, codenamed “Project Moohan.”

A major collaboration between Samsung and Google: Unveiling the Android XR headset

According to a statement from Samsung, the livestream will begin on October 21st at 10 PM ET. This date and time corresponds to 5:00 AM Turkish time (GMT+3) on October 22nd. Tech enthusiasts can watch this important launch live on Samsung’s official YouTube page and the Samsung Newsroom website.

This event isn’t just the launch of a new mixed reality headset. “Project Moohan” is the first device to feature Google’s new “Android XR” operating system, designed specifically for XR, VR, and AR devices. This launch will also give us a first look at the tools and innovations Google’s new operating system offers.

Samsung promises that “Project Moohan” will unlock the “true potential” of mixed reality devices. According to the company, this technology will “seamlessly blend everyday use with immersive new experiences.” We expect to see both these everyday use features and the aforementioned immersive experiences during the live broadcast. The broadcast duration has not yet been announced.

The official specifications for the new headset are not yet available. However, numerous leaks and rumors are circulating that will either be confirmed or denied during the event. These leaks suggest the device will feature a high-end display, advanced tracking features, and Gemini integration.

The same leaks also hint at a potential price tag. Rumors suggest the device will cost between $1,800 and $2,800. This pricing positions “Project Moohan” as a direct competitor to the Apple Vision Pro, rather than Meta’s new Ray-Ban Display glasses.
