Windows 11 is changing the desktop experience

Microsoft is rolling out a new feature that will be of particular interest to Windows 11 users. According to recent discoveries, the operating system is gaining a built-in feature that will allow videos to be used directly as desktop backgrounds.

Windows 11 will allow you to set videos as your background

This system, which will support MP4 and MKV formats, will now offer a dynamic desktop experience integrated within Windows, something millions of users have enjoyed for years through third-party software.

Microsoft previously took a similar step with DreamScene during Windows Vista, but this feature was completely removed from the system with Windows 7. Now, it’s returning with a much more modern infrastructure.

Dynamic desktop backgrounds have long been popular, especially among users interested in games, movies, and visual arts. The new feature is expected to be available to all Windows 11 users before the end of the year.

This system development could directly impact the user base of paid applications, especially “Wallpaper Engine.” Microsoft’s move will reduce users’ reliance on external software while also offering integrated content control and performance improvements within the operating system.

Another notable innovation in Windows 11 is the “Copilot Vision” feature. This new button, which appears just below the preview screen that appears when you hover over apps in the taskbar, transfers the screenshot directly to Copilot.
