The PlayStation 6 could be a disappointment!

Technical details about the PlayStation 6 and Xbox Magnus (Xbox Next), the next-generation game consoles planned for release by Sony and Microsoft in 2027, are beginning to emerge. According to leaks from KeplerL2, a reliable source in the hardware world, Microsoft’s new console, the Xbox Magnus, will surpass Sony’s system in raw performance.

PlayStation 6 vs. Xbox Magnus

KeplerL2, known for its close ties to AMD internal sources, claims that the final hardware configurations for both systems have been finalized. Leaks indicate that the PlayStation 6 will have fewer CPU cores, lower processor frequencies, and fewer CUs (Compute Units) and Render Output Units (ROPs) compared to its rival.

Xbox Series X

It is also stated that the PS6 will feature lower GPU frequencies, caches, and memory bandwidth. The source states that the difference is not significant, but that the Xbox Magnus is expected to deliver higher performance in all games.

While Xbox stands out for its raw power, Sony focuses on artificial intelligence (AI) processing power. The PlayStation 6 is said to reach an impressive AI processing power of approximately 1200 TOPS (Trillion Operations Per Second).

This figure represents a significant fourfold increase over the PlayStation 5 Pro’s 300 TOPS. The company’s years of investment in AI and its close collaboration with AMD on technologies like FSR explain this robust AI capability.

Both consoles are making significant leaps in memory. According to KeplerL2, the PlayStation 6 will have 30GB of RAM, while the Xbox Magnus will have 36GB. Sony’s new handheld console system is reportedly working on will have 24GB of memory.

These memory increases are seen as an inevitable step with the proliferation of next-generation technologies like ray tracing and AI-powered graphics processing, and they also mean that memory requirements on the PC will increase.
