Meta Muse Voice Rolls Out With Expressive Avatars in US
Meta is rolling out Muse voice and expressive avatars in the US on mobile, web and Mac after Connect 2026. Will voice-only mode beat a full avatar call?

Meta began rolling out Meta Muse voice with expressive avatars in the United States on Nov. 5, 2026, letting people talk with their Muse AI agent in real time on mobile, web and Mac. In the company Newsroom post, Meta said users start a call from the phone icon in the top-right corner of the Muse app after the feature was previewed at Connect 2026.
How Does Meta Muse Voice Work?
Muse Realtime Voice answers out loud without forcing you to type a polished prompt first. You can interrupt mid-response, keep a conversation going while Muse works on tasks in the background, and pick among hundreds of voice styles. Meta's Muse Realtime Avatar layer adds facial expressions and gestures that track the tone of the chat, so the agent looks like it is listening as well as speaking. TechCrunch separately confirmed the US-wide voice and video-chat rollout the same day.
What Display Modes Can You Choose?
Presence is optional. Meta lists three views: voice only, the avatar beside the conversation, or a full-screen face-to-face layout. That flexibility matters for hands-busy moments such as walking or cooking, where a spoken briefing is enough, versus interview rehearsal where seeing a reactive avatar may feel closer to practice. Related consumer Meta hardware updates are covered in our Meta glasses security update report.
Where Is Meta Muse Voice Available Today?
The rollout starts in the US. Meta said voice conversations are coming soon to AI Glasses and the forthcoming Muse Charm wearable, but it did not publish a wider country schedule or usage caps in the announcement. For another Meta creative tool move this week, see Instagram Edits on Mac.
Our Take
Realtime voice is table stakes for consumer AI agents; the bet here is that a reactive avatar plus background task handling makes Muse feel more like a companion than a chatbot. The open questions are quality outside demos, privacy defaults, and how soon Glasses and Charm inherit the same stack.
